As we work through the features of Kaizena, it is important to see both how it looks as a teacher and as a student. To do so, we will go in the following order:
- Click on the Example Document with Feedback.
- It will ask you to sign in using your Google account. Go ahead and do that in order to access your free Kaizena account. We will set it up later, so don't worry about that now.
- Once you are in the document, click on the different types of notes that you can leave. Explore the document and see what it looks like to a student after feedback has been left.
- Click on the 3-2-1 for tonight.
- Since you will only have viewing access, you need to make a copy before you add in your own information. (This is an easy way to give students a bare-bones doc to start from.)
- Within the Google doc is a link to upload to my Kaizena. This will give me the chance to give you feedback without altering your document at all. (Including directions within the Google doc is also a helpful way to use Google in the classroom.)
- Make sure you upload it to the correct box, which is the one labeled 5/21 Tech Night. (This is a good way to help keep you organized and your students accountable. You can see at a glance which students submitted a specific assignment.)
- Click on the link Send Feedback to My Kaizena. (If you didn't already in the step above.)
- This is another way for students to get the link. If you want students to be able to send you docs for feedback without giving them a template, you can just include the link within your Schoology.
- Go back to Kaizena
- This is where you will set up your profile and create your own Kaizena link for students/peers to send you assignments for feedback.
- Explore Kaizena
- Share your link with the group in the discussion board labeled 5/21 Kaizena Discussion.
- Send a document to another teacher in the group using their link.
- Once you receive someone else's document, practice leaving feedback. Try all three types: verbal, written, and links. Play around with the different colors.
- Send the document back to them.
- Post link in Gdoc (This is the best option to use with students, but it is currently being glitchy. Feel free to try it, but you might want to give it a couple days, since they are currently working on a fix for it.)
- Send email (This option is fine for teachers, as we actually have email accounts.)
